If your child wants to learn how to sew and you don’t have the time or knowledge, this class is for them!  We teach students the basic fundamentals of the sewing machine and how to sew a straight seam. (We use our sewing machines – please don’t bring yours).

Children choose their own fabric (front and backing) for this class. Fabrics for the front of the quilt will need to be purchased and cut before class. If you wish, a teacher will cut the fabric for you for a $5 fee. If we are cutting for you, we will need the fabric at least one week before class begins. If you do your own cutting, be sure you cut accurately for your kid’s success.

2nd Time Around Kamps

Must be at least 9 years old and have taken Kids Kamp to take 2nd Time Around.

All 2nd Time Around Classes are Monday – Thursday, 1:30pm – 4:30pm

2nd Time 1 – June 10 – June 13   #266771
2nd Time 2 – June 24 – June 27   #266774
2nd Time 3 – July 8 – July 11   #266859
2nd Time 4 – July 22 – July 25   #266863

Graduates of Kids Kamp will choose their own fabrics for this quilt and pillowcase. We will build on previously learned skills and aim toward an accurate ¼” seam allowance and rows that are the same length. They will also read a simple pattern to determine the order pieces are sewn together.

3rd Times a Charm Kamps

In order to take 3rd Time a Charm classes, a student must have successfully completed 2nd Time Around and have approval from the teachers.

Magic Pillow
Monday – Thursday, June 3 – June 6, 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Cost $48

It’s a pillow – NO – it’s a quilt – NO – it’s a Magic Pillow Quilt! This project features an Ohio Star pillow that is attached to a quilt. When the quilt is folded and tucked inside, it transforms into a pillow. What fun to take to a sleep-over or on a trip.  Choose your own fabrics to make a stripy quilt and pillow for an item that is uniquely your own. In addition, we will make a cute quilted, zippered bag. What fun!

Modern Hand Embroidery
Monday – Wednesday, July 1 – July 3, 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Cost $36

Hand Embroidery is coming back, and you will find many hours of enjoyment learning some basic stitches.  We will start with your initials and add some flair of your own.  Class does require a kit.  Finished project will be a small 8” pillow.

Gemstones Quilt
Monday – Friday, July 15 – July 19, 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Cost $60

Have some fun making your own gemstone blocks using snowball corners. Some are solid and some are 4-patched to give two different looks to your blocks. Put together in a staggered set with some rectangles and you have a modern look that makes your gems shine.

Advanced Kids Kamp

These classes teach advanced sewing techniques. It’s very important that you have mastered the 3rd Times a Charm level before enrolling in these classes.  Students need approval from the teachers and must be 11 or older.

Beginning Hand Piecing
Monday – Friday, July 29 – August 2, 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Cost $60

Hand piecing is a relaxing alternative to sewing by machine. It’s also portable, making it possible for you to sew anytime, anywhere. In this class we’ll cover the basics of piecing a quilt by hand. We’ll spend the first three days sewing by hand. If you wish you can continue at home, but it’s not required. On Thursday you’ll finish up your quilt top by machine and on Friday you’ll use the machine to quilt and bind your quilt. Please join us as we share this relaxing art!

Stonehenge 10th Anniversary Challenges

This year,  2019, is the 10th anniversary of Northcott’s Stonehenge fabric line; and to celebrate with the quilt shops and quilters that have made Stonehenge fabrics such a success, Northcott has some exciting events planned for 2019/2020.

Stonehenge Block Party Challenge

One of the events Northcott has organized is a Stonehenge Block Party that includes quilt shops all around the world.  Oklahoma Quiltworks is happy to announce we are participating in the Stonehenge Block Party!  And we would like to introduce our block, designed and made by Emilee Dube’.

This unique block pattern uses fabrics from the new Stonehenge Solstice and Stonehenge gradations collections.

The Stonehenge Block Party Challenge, if you choose to participate, is to create a quilt using at least 12 blocks in the quilt design.  You can purchase blocks from as many participating stores as you would like.  Then, submit a photo of your completed quilt to Northcott by September 30, 2019.  The Grand Prize winner will get a 9-day trip for two to England and a private tour of Stonehenge!  Second place prize is $1,000 USD and a Stonehenge fabric prize pack valued at $250.  Third place prize is $500 USD and a Stonehenge fabric prize pack valued at $100.

You can purchase the Oklahoma Quiltworks Block Kit, which includes pattern and fabric, for $10.50 from March 15, 2019 through September 30, 2019.

Stonehenge Solstice Panel Quilt Challenge

Oklahoma Quiltworks will be hosting a Stonehenge Solstice Panel Quilt Challenge in our shop. Participants are to purchase and use the Solstice panel in a creative way to make a quilt no larger than 60″ x 60″ for a contest at Oklahoma Quiltworks.  The winner will be chosen by the shop (rules are available at OKQW) and the winner will be awarded a Stonehenge Precut prize pack.  The deadline for submission of this panel quilt challenge is November 30, 2019.

You can purchase the Stonehenge Solstice Panel for $11.95 from March 15, 2019 through November 30, 2019.

Quilt Camp
Open to all Levels

Friday & Saturday, March 29 & 30, 9:30am – 9:30pm

WHAT IS A QUILT CAMP? If you have never attended, you may have no idea what we are talking about. It is designed to provide space to spread out for two days, without interruption from family members, household duties or anything else that gets in your way of productive sewing time. You may come with projects you need to complete or bring new projects you want to start. The only thing we don’t do at this camp is spend the night.

If you need help in certain areas or some advice to spur you on in the right direction, this is the place to be. You may simply want to be left alone to do your own thing and that is OK too. Lunch and dinner are provided Friday and Saturday.   Note:  The class room has been reserved on Thursday, March 28 and Thursday, May 30 so that campers can arrive early, set-up and sew all day if they choose.
