Meet Barbara Stanfield
In 1988, Barbara and co-founder Carole Jo Evans decided they were tired of having to drive out of town to shop for their quilting products and, with the help of husbands and hammers, opened their own business in the Casady Square shopping center with three employees. They soon outgrew their original location and later moved into a larger storefront at Casady Square In
2002, after celebrating Oklahoma Quiltworks' 14th
anniversary, they announced plans to enlarge the store's size once
again. Staying in the location, they added considerable space by
expanding into an adjacent store. Quilters
who have been a part of the shop's history and success know that
offering great classes and teachers is a top priority for
Oklahoma Quiltworks. With the store's expansion, they now offer an
enclosed class environment. In 2005, Carole Jo retired to spend more
time with her family. Barbara is
deeply committed to providing the best service and products for Oklahoma
Quiltworks' customers and sees her shop as a friendly, neighborhood
store. "Our customers have become our friends," she says.
"Quilters are very giving people; they are wonderful people who are
so willing to share what they make and what they know." In addition to being a successful businesswoman, Barbara is a wife, mother and grandmother. She and her husband have two grown children and two grandsons. Their daughter Alyson is an art business consultant in Denver and son Blake, a family physician in the Oklahoma City metro area, has two young sons. |
