Fussy cutting is very popular right now. We will go over a variety of techniques for fussy cutting your fabric for use in piecing, applique, and especially English Paper Piecing (EPP). We will cover what fabrics work best for fussy cutting and will practice creating a simple EPP sample that you can take home. This would be an excellent class to take if you are planning on taking any of our EPP classes (such as Lucy Boston or Brimfield Meadows & Blooming Star). Fussy cutting will take your blocks to a whole new level.

Note: Fabric and template kit must be purchased from the instructor at the time of the class for $5 (this is in addition to the cost of the class).

With the resurgence of English Paper Piecing in popularity, this quilt pattern and others using the original cross block, now known simply as Lucy Boston, are showing up at shows and on many quilters’ bucket list. In fact, a Lucy Boston won best of show at the COQG Quilt Show this summer.

In this class, you will learn how to create templates, create EPP pieces, and sew them together using the shapes necessary to create the Lucy Boston block, while also becoming familiar with the various designs that use this very versatile block.
