Brights! Raw Edge Applique! Amazing Quilting!

One of my favorite new designers is Australia’s, Kellie Wulfsohn, from Don’t Look Now!   Her modern patterns give a new meaning to raw edge applique.  The bright colored fabric choices make each design bright and cheery.  Her machine quilting is to be envied by all of us who wish we could machine quilt using our household machines and her quilting method.

I picked “First day of Christmas” as a starting point.  I found the pattern easy to understand and the raw edge applique quite simple.  Of course, I sent my pillow top out to be quilted since I know I am not at that level of quilting.

Her new patterns are fun and whimiscal.

The Animal Alphabet would be great for any young child.

White Christmas!

Look at the background, she took her favorite nursery rhyme stories and photo copied in black and white  and printed on “Printed Treasures”.  She then sewed the sheets together to use as a background for  her applique.  What a wonderful idea.  I don’t think I will use Fairytales, but I do have a couple of books in mind that I will play around with.

I’m definitely going to do “From the Heart” and have traced all my patterns for “Oh Christmas Tree”.

“Oh Christmas Tree!”  I have also seen this done with a Red Background, just stunning!

Merry Christmas – New Block of the Month!

We had a great week, especially with seeing all our wonderful friends and quilters who stopped by the shop on “The Road to Oklahoma Shop Hop” .    I had just finished hanging the blocks for the new “Merry Christmas”  Block of the Month, when who should appear, but Amy herself.  She and her mom were doing the shop hop, how fun!   Thank you Amy, for dropping by and posing with our blocks.   Carolyn will be sad that she missed seeing you, but Amy loves your fabric choices.

The new 6-month Block of the Month starts in July and includes fabrics for the blocks, sashing and borders.   The cost will be $18.95 each month.  Sign-up here!

Carolyn is making the block of the month and having so much fun picking fabrics and making these blocks.  Can’t wait to see the completed quilt.
