Art Quilts Hand Dyes and Beautiful Stitches

Who doesn’t love hand dyed fabrics?  We are so excited to announce that we are now exclusively carrying hand dyed fabrics from “Dye-licious  Fabrics, Inc.”   We carry them in fat quarters, ½ yd. and 1 yd. cuts. We also offer hand dyes in 6” squares—perfect for applique or when small amounts are needed.

If you are unfamiliar with hand dyes, you owe it to yourself to look at these beautiful fabrics.  The colors are particularly brilliant and saturated, and each piece is a unique one-of-a-kind.  Hand dyes resist raveling and are more lightfast than printed fabrics or regular solids.

Hand dyes are perfect for art quilts or to add character to a traditional project, they are especially suited to hand or machine applique.  Hand dyes excel when used as backgrounds. Mixed with printed fabrics they give additional texture and depth of color.

Several months ago, Barbara Chaffin, an employee and teacher got hooked on Laura Wasoloski’s Small World featured in the June/July issue of Quilting Arts.  The small, circular quilt with it’s colorful hand dyes, lucious hand dyed threads and free motion quilting sparked an interest.  She couldn’t wait to create her first Small World.  Barbara will be teaching the Small World Art Quilt in March.  There are so many possibilities for the “Small World” Art Quilt, seasons, months, holidays…I can’t wait to make my first one!
